When we went over her ideas, I was actually surprised by how much she didn't think should be changed. The pages didn't have nearly as many red pen marks as I thought they would, she was actually pretty encouraging.
Now, I wrote a post the other day about whether I should send it in to try and get traditionally published or do the self-publishing route again. While I do think the story is good enough to be published, I don't think I'm quite ready for all of that yet. This is only my 2nd book and I'm still nowhere near the level of writing that I want to be at, and the only way I can get to that level is through practice.
So, in my head self-publishing the book is a way to have random strangers read my work and through their reviews will know what it is that I need to work on, or what i'm getting right. If I make some extra money in the process, that's really a bonus. My main goal has always been to have people read my books, not to become rich or anything, I just love to write.
